Information we handle
GanttScan handles the schedule files and extracted information needed for your comparison, temporary comparison results for downloadable reports, anonymous usage analytics, and an email address and submission time if you choose to join the waitlist. These have separate purposes, described below.
How the comparison works
You upload two .mpp files. GanttScan temporarily reads them and extracts the schedule data needed for your comparison. The calculations use that extracted data, and the results are returned to you.
Temporary files
When processing finishes, GanttScan runs cleanup to delete the temporary uploaded files. Your files and schedule data are not reused for other purposes, shared with other users, sold or used to train AI models.
Your downloadable report
To let you download a report, GanttScan temporarily holds a copy of your comparison results in server memory. Downloads are available for up to 30 minutes, only to your browser session, and may become unavailable sooner if the server restarts or the temporary cache is cleared. The results are used only for your report and are not saved as project history.
Usage analytics
GanttScan uses PostHog for privacy-safe server-side usage analytics to understand which features are used and how comparisons perform. Events contain only feature actions, broad failure categories, processing times and aggregate activity counts. Uploaded schedule content, filenames, project names, activity names and IDs, file paths and report tokens are not sent to PostHog.
Analytics uses random identifiers without linking them to your identity. For analytics, we do not send your email address, browser headers or IP address, create analytics cookies, record sessions or build user profiles. Comparison events can be linked within one comparison; activity across separate visits is not tracked.
Waitlist emails
You voluntarily provide an email address when you join the Project and Business waitlist. Your address and the UTC submission time are delivered to GanttScan's waitlist inbox through Zoho Mail. We use your address for Project and Business launch communications and the introductory offer. It is not sent to PostHog, and GanttScan does not create an account or application database record for the signup. A successful signup sends only an anonymous waitlist_signup event to our usage analytics.
Waitlist correspondence is kept in our email inbox to manage the waitlist and related launch communications. The application does not set a fixed deletion period for those emails.
No saved history
The free comparison tool does not create a saved project or schedule history. Each comparison uses the two files you choose for that comparison.
Service providers
We use PostHog for the limited analytics described above, Zoho Mail for waitlist email delivery and receipt, and hosting and infrastructure providers needed to operate ganttscan.com. These providers may process the limited information necessary to provide their respective services. Uploaded schedules are not sent to PostHog or Zoho Mail.
Protecting information
GanttScan takes reasonable technical and operational measures to protect information, including HTTPS and restricted access to temporary reports. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and contact
You can choose not to upload schedule files or join the waitlist. For privacy questions or requests relating to a waitlist email you submitted, contact support@ganttscan.com.
